Cody- I have been an outdoor addict my whole life. I have always had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. Growing up on the family farm in James River Alberta, I learned how to hunt and fish from my family. Now my hopes are to pass on good ethics and knowledge to my three girls. I have worked in the Oil and Gas industry for 15 years. I joined the Alberta Bow Hunters Association in 2021 and hope to get more involved as time goes on. My career has not allowed me to be apart of very many organizations as my schedule is never set, and sometimes I end up working for long periods of time away from home. My goal is to end up with a career in the outdoor industry.
MY WHY!
When I am out walking around in the trees, there is a sense of peacefulness/relaxation that comes over you, where all your stresses of the modern day leave you. With all our commitments and full schedules, it is hard to find a place or time to escape. I am no doctor nor do I want to research the science behind all this part of the brain, all I know is what is does for me.
The adventure of seeing what's over the next ridge or what's around the next corner keeps you out there. The sunrise or sunsets you see out on these adventures are mesmerizing. The special "spots" whether it be a view, fishing hole, camping spot, you find while exploring are all part of the why I do it.
The adrenaline rush I get when I walk up on a shed or seeing a unique animal or any animal for that matter is unmatched. I hope to pass this on to people to try for themselves. I am aware that it will not affect everyone or anyone maybe the way it affects me. I want my children and their children to be able to at least try it. The world has changed in the past few decades we are becoming a society that relies on conveniences too much. The memories my family and I are making in the foothills of Alberta are something I have always dreamed of. While our schedules do not allow us to be out there every weekend we try our best to get out between softball, hockey, basketball, swimming club, and any other sport they can get into.
